Colombia is often underestimated in a way that is almost unfair. Of course, one knows Cartagena with its colorful houses and the old town. But Colombia is so much more than that one photo that you keep seeing over and over. Caribbean coast and Pacific, coffee plantations in the Andean highlands, dense Amazon rainforests, open Llanos savannahs, colonial cities, and one of the liveliest metropolises in South America — all of that is one single country.

Nils has been living in Colombia again for some time, after having spent several years there before. He knows the country not as a tourist, but from within. What fascinates him to this day: how different the individual regions are from each other. Bogotá does not feel like Medellín, Medellín is not like the Coffee Zone, and the Coffee Zone is not like the Caribbean coast. If you only see one corner, you have actually hardly seen anything at all.
