Our Story

Our path to an exclusive tour operator

It began in the desert

In the midst of the golden sand dunes of Oman, far from everything, an idea was born in 2014 that was to become greater than initially thought: to enable travelers to have genuine and unforgettable experiences.

From this vision emerged Canvas Club Glamping – and thus the first step on the way to Take Memories. The silence of the desert, the endless starry sky, and the intense engagement with a foreign culture already showed us: It is the personal moments that truly stick with you.

We pursue a goal

Our mission has been the same from the very beginning: to enable travels that are more than just a holiday. Where you truly arrive – in a different culture, a different way of life, perhaps even with yourself.

Latin America is an extraordinary continent for this. Hardly anywhere else do you encounter so many different worlds in such a small space: Andean landscapes, tropical forests, colonial cities, indigenous cultures, and a zest for life that immediately captivates you. We create trips that reflect exactly that – with understanding for the region and passion for what makes it so special.

How it all began: Canvas Club

In the midst of the golden sand dunes of Oman, far away from everything familiar, our founders Philip Eichkorn and Stefan Ullsperger laid the foundation in 2014 for what Take Memories is today. With Canvas Club Glamping, they created a mobile desert camp that brought travelers closer to the Orient in a very approachable, respectful way.

They set up the first tents themselves – with great enthusiasm, little experience, but a clear sense of what travel can mean. Every encounter with guests, every shared evening under the starry sky strengthened their belief: It’s not about perfection on paper, but about the feeling that remains. This conviction still carries Take Memories today – and now also Latin Memories.

From the desert to the world

With growing experience and a team that shared the passion for travel, it quickly became clear: what we had built in Oman, we wanted to take to the world. In 2015, the founding of Five One North was the first step, followed by the introduction of the name Take Memories in 2018 – for a company that creates experiences worldwide that truly remain in memory.

Latin America captivated us early on. A continent with so much history, extraordinary nature, and human warmth – and at the same time often underestimated. We want to create travels that go deeper and show you what really makes Latin America.

Specialization with heart and mind

Within Take Memories we have developed specialized brands for destinations that require special knowledge and intensive consulting. Safari Memories stands for safaris in Africa, Gorilla Memories for encounters with mountain gorillas, Orient Memories for authentic experiences in the Middle East – and Latin Memories for trips on a continent we not only know, but with which we have a true personal connection.

Nils has lived in Colombia for several years, is back there now, and knows the country in a way that no travel guide can convey. Luca studied Hispanic studies and has long been involved with the language, history, and culture of Latin American countries. Nele lived for a time in Costa Rica and Ecuador and knows what it means to truly arrive on-site – beyond the usual tourist paths. This knowledge flows into every journey we design for you.

Today: A world full of possibilities

Latin Memories represents a new perspective on Latin America – one that takes the diversity of the continent seriously and allows you to travel in ways that fit you. Whether you hike through the Cañon del Colca in Peru, sink into the coffee plantations of Colombia, experience the biodiversity of Costa Rica, or travel in the Amazon region – we help you find what truly fits you.

Our aim is not to cram as much as possible into two weeks of round trips, but to create the right moments and experience them authentically. Memories that you take with you and that stick with you. Because that’s exactly what it’s about for us – and that’s what Take Memories means.
