Hotel das Cataratas, A Belmond Hotel, Iguassu Falls is located in the heart of the Iguaçu National Park, founded in 1934, which is one of the last major contiguous areas of Atlantic rainforest in southern Brazil. In Foz do Iguaçu, in the far south of Brazil near the Argentine border, the Iguazú waterfalls are the region's landmark. The nearest international airport is Cataratas del Iguazú Airport in Puerto Iguazú, Argentina, about 15 kilometers or 20 minutes by car away. For international flights from other parts of the world, Foz do Iguaçu Airport in Brazil is the closest option, about 20 kilometers from the hotel.

I still like to think back to the food there. At the Belmond Hotel das Cataratas, with the waterfalls right outside the door, I had the best food of my trip. The Casquinha de siri, a Brazilian crab specialty, was unbelievably good. And I don't even want to start talking about the Açaimisu – this perfect combination of Açaí and Tiramisu.
