The 17 free-standing bungalows and villas are spread along the ridge and offer living spaces ranging from about 65 to over 170 square meters. With the open construction using sustainable wood and traditional thatched roofs, you enjoy unobstructed views of the Pacific or the canopy of the rainforest. Large mosquito nets over the beds and custom-made wooden furniture define the nature-inspired interior. On the private wooden terrace, a cozy hammock and a refreshing outdoor shower invite you to relax undisturbed. The orientation towards the coast allows the natural sea breeze to glide steadily through your rooms.

Activities

The lodge's private protected area offers you numerous opportunities to experience the protected nature up close. Together with experienced naturalists, you embark on guided hikes to hidden waterfalls or discover the biodiversity of the Osa Peninsula. After dark, there is also the opportunity to get to know the jungle anew with a fascinating night walk. The program is complemented by kayak tours in the mangroves and excursions to the nearby Corcovado National Park.

Location

The Lapa Rios Lodge is located in the southwest of Costa Rica on the remote Osa Peninsula, nestled in a rainforest reserve near Corcovado National Park. This untouched region is considered by National Geographic to be one of the most biologically diverse places on Earth, combining protected primary forests with secluded beaches along the Pacific Ocean. The quickest arrival is via a roughly 50-minute domestic flight from the capital San José to Puerto Jiménez. From the nearby landing strip, the journey continues for about 45 minutes by 4x4 vehicle over a natural road directly to the lodge. Alternatively, you can also travel as part of a well-paced seven-hour trip with a private transfer service or rental car.
