Origins Lodge
High above the valley, between the Tenorio and Miravalles volcanoes, lies the Origins Lodge - one of the most extraordinary boutique hotels in Costa Rica. Only seven private lodges are scattered across the well-maintained 45-acre estate near Bijagua, each with its own wood-fired outdoor bathtub and unobstructed views all the way to Lake Nicaragua. What began as a private home of the French owner is now a retreat that combines barefoot luxury with true wilderness: mist-shrouded treetops, the sounds of the rainforest, and a culinary program from Michelin-starred chef Jean-Luc L'Hourre make the Origins Lodge one of the most personal addresses off the beaten path.

Rooms
The seven standalone lodges of the Origins Lodge are modern, bright retreats featuring handcrafted four-poster beds, spacious terraces, and a wood-fired outdoor bathtub with a 180-degree view over the valley and rainforest. Complementing the offerings is the Villa Vertigo, a villa suspended in the tree canopy with three bedrooms, a private kitchen, and a heated outdoor hot tub - ideal for groups or families.
Culinary
In the restaurant El Salto, Michelin-starred chef Jean-Luc L'Hourre oversees a changing menu of farm-to-table cuisine - from tropical breakfasts to a seven-course discovery menu in the evening. Private gardens, natural pest control, and a private fish pond provide a significant portion of the ingredients. To wind down, an extensive wine cellar and the Skyview Lounge with sunset views invite relaxation.
Activities
The location between the Tenorio and Miravalles volcanoes opens access to activities far beyond the typical Costa Rica program: guided night hikes through the rainforest, horseback rides through the 45-acre private estate, yoga on the Koora deck, and excursions to the turquoise Rio Celeste. Those who prefer not to leave the lodge will find plenty of reasons to stay in the Laka-Tii spa suite and the fire pits under the open sky.
Location
The Origins Lodge is located in the northern plains of Costa Rica, not far from the small town of Bijagua and only a few kilometers from the Tenorio Volcano National Park with its turquoise Rio Celeste. The last kilometers to the lodge are via an unpaved road through vast farmland; alternatively, access by helicopter directly to the lodge's private landing site is possible. From here, the view stretches over the valley to Lake Nicaragua.
