The town, located in the province of Puntarenas, is known as a surfing stronghold of the peninsula. However, the area has of course much more water sports to offer: The crystal-clear water invites you to snorkel, kitesurf, and fish, among other activities. The international airport San José is 113 kilometers away.
I felt comfortable right from the first moment at Nantipa. My bungalow had direct beach access, so I could watch the surfers every evening while the sun slowly sank into the sea. I also found the atmosphere in the beach restaurant in the evening particularly nice: fairy lights between the palm trees, bean bags in the sand, and the soft rustle of the sea in the background – for me, pure barefoot luxury feeling.
