Nele Unger
Travel Designer
Nele lost her heart to Latin America when she completed an internship at a hotel in Santa Teresa on the Pacific coast of Costa Rica in 2023 as part of her tourism studies. From the very beginning, she was impressed by the joy of life, serenity, and especially the warmth of the people. After her internship, she traveled around the country for several weeks and discovered the incredible diversity of Costa Rica.
What is it about Latin America that never lets go of me? The nature, the animals, and the warmth of the people—which makes every trip something truly unique.
Auf meiner Bucket List
Patagonien
She was particularly impressed by the breathtaking nature and the unique biodiversity. She describes her time in Costa Rica as a journey full of adventures and unforgettable moments. From horseback riding on the beach at sunset in Santa Teresa to relaxing hours in the hot springs at the foot of the Arenal Volcano, to hiking through Corcovado National Park and whale watching off the coast of Uvita.
Afterwards, she spent another two weeks in Mexico. Although the country conveyed entirely different impressions, she was immediately captivated by the openness and warmth of the people there as well. Personal highlights for her include the impressive Mayan site of Chichén Itzá, swimming in the crystal-clear cenotes of the Yucatán Peninsula, the dreamy sunrises on the Caribbean coast, and the relaxed island of Holbox.
Just a year later, she was drawn back to South America - this time to Ecuador and the Galápagos Islands. She fell in love with this destination immediately as well. Above all, her time on the Galápagos Islands is among her most extraordinary travel experiences ever. Even today, she raves about snorkeling with sea lions, encounters with giant tortoises, and the fascinating wildlife that can be experienced up close there.
Nele is fascinated by Latin America mainly because of the combination of impressive and unique nature and wildlife, exciting culture, and the warm-hearted people who make every trip so special.
Her next dream? A trip to Patagonia. With its spectacular mountain landscapes, massive glaciers, and untouched nature, this region is at the top of her personal wish list.
