Arriving in the colorful highlands

The start of your journey leads you to Colombia's vibrant capital, situated high up in the Andes. At the Paloquemao market, you dive together into lively daily life, and if you're lucky, you experience Bogotá on a Sunday – then the main streets transform during Ciclovía into a car-free playground for cycling, jogging, or strolling. Between the historic Candelaria quarter and the Gold Museum, there’s also time for Colombia’s national sport Tejo: a round with explosive kick, guaranteed to excite everyone.

02 Leticia

Pure jungle adventure

From the big city, you head into the green heart of South America: by plane and raft, you reach your lodge in the middle of the tri-border area of the Amazon. Here, boat tours to the Tarapoto lakes searching for pink river dolphins, canoeing through narrow waterways, and a flashlight expedition at night searching for insects and amphibians await you. A visit to the indigenous Tikuna community shows you what life looks like away from civilization – an experience that brings wide eyes to both children and adults.

Change, art, and the cable car above the city

Next, you go to Medellín, the "City of Eternal Spring," which has reinvented itself radically in recent decades. During a walk through the center and a detour to the Museum of Antioquia with works by Fernando Botero, you learn more about this change – it gets most exciting in Comuna 13, which you reach by cable car, where a graffiti artist tells you the stories behind the colorful murals. Across the spectacular Chicamocha Canyon – which you cross by cable car with panoramic views – you reach the picturesque colonial village of Barichara, which seems like it’s from another time. On horseback, you explore the landscape around the Río Suárez; in a traditional paper workshop and with artisans who work with the natural fiber Fique, you get up close to real village life. If you prefer something more action-packed, soft rafting on the Fonce River offers just the right dose of thrills for the whole family.
