Amanvari

Hot and dry lies the East Cape of Baja California Sur, until the land breaks off and palms shade the slopes of Amanvari. The Sea of Cortez reaches up to the sand, salty and warm, while the Sierra de la Laguna rises behind. A river mouth rests in the landscape and reflects the palm fronds. The name derives from Sanskrit and connects peace with water, which is self-evident in this tranquility. Coral reefs and hidden canyons weave through one of the most biodiverse marine ecosystems in the world beneath the surface. You can already sense how quiet it is here on the way from arrival to your own terrace.

Room

Your casita opens to the terrace as soon as the glass front is pushed back, and the warm air flows through the rooms. Each of the 18 units has 82 square meters, crafted from natural materials in sandy tones that absorb the colors of the landscape. How the morning begins depends on the location. The beachfront casita gives you barefoot access to the sand via a private entry, while the estuary casita is tucked away by the calm water of the river mouth. The horizon casita and the casita stand elevated above the land, the former with the Sea of Cortez in panorama, the latter shaded by palms, and a surrounding sun deck belongs to both. A heated pool is located on each terrace, the shower is outdoors, and custom ceramics and original works by local artists add accents.

Culinary

Open fire defines the kitchen at Luma, where seafood and seasonal vegetables are served in shareable dishes while the view stretches over the Sea of Cortez towards the Sierra de la Laguna. Sesui moves the evening to the sand, at an omakase counter with ten seats, where the chef guides you through what the day offers, with sashimi and grilled dishes from the charcoal grill served à la carte under the open sky. Arva at Casa Grande follows the cucina del raccolto, the Italian harvest cuisine, and presents classics alongside its own signature dishes by the water. The lounge bar mixes signature cocktails with little bites that tell stories of the region. Long afternoons in the sun of Baja California Sur end at the daybed, where snacks and spritzes are brought.

Activities

Barefoot, you can walk along the coast of Costa Palmas for nearly five kilometers, and everywhere along this stretch, you can enter the water. The land encompassing Amanvari covers about 607 hectares, seven of which are organic orchards and farmland. Diving and snorkeling tours lead out in front of the coast, and you can go even further under sail. Hiking trails ascend into the dry mountains, and horseback riding opens up the hinterland. Six private treatment rooms and two hydro houses with banja and hammam are part of the spa, and in the temazcal, the contemporary version of the Mexican sweat lodge, you sit in the heat until the mind releases.
