One&Only Mandarina

A few steps at One&Only Mandarina lead from the tropical coastal rainforest to a white sandy beach where you can swim. The accommodations are spread out individually across the grounds, high in the treetops or atop the cliffs overlooking the Pacific. Rooms

The size of your accommodation mainly depends on how many people are traveling with you. A treehouse measures 79 m² and has an additional 28 m² terrace in front, with an outdoor bathtub and private pool. The treehouses are equipped the same way; the only difference is the orientation, which ranges from a view into the forest to an open panorama over the Pacific. For families, there is the 83 m² Cliff Villa with a sofa bed next to the king-size bed, while the Grand Villas are significantly larger, starting at 210 m² and ending with the 1,027 m² Villa One for eight people. The Villa Pacifico additionally brings a private spa room at the edge of the cliff, and the furnishing style remains consistently understated, as in the Villa Cumaru, for example, with a vaulted ceiling, terrace, and pool as a second living space.

Culinary

The kitchen takes what the Riviera Nayarit has to offer, from ceviche from the sea to vegetables from its own cultivation. Carao has its place high on the cliff where Enrique Olvera reinterprets Mexican classics, and the view extends far over the coast. Alma cooks by the pool with Mediterranean influences, featuring fresh pasta and pizza from the wood-fired oven. The Jetty Beach Club is located right on the water and serves fish and seafood from the region. The Treetop mixes seasonal cocktails above the surf based on ideas from ancient Mexican cultures, which you can try out in a course yourself. Some evenings take place outside the restaurants, such as a barbecue with tables right in the sand.

Activities

A guided hike takes you to La Abuela, a tree around 500 years old, next to which young generations of sacred trees grow under the name Los Nietos. If you prefer it faster, you can glide over the treetops on ziplines at the Mandarina Jungle Course. The Mandarina Polo & Equestrian Club hosts games during the season and offers riding lessons and horseback rides that lead from the forest down to the sea. Greg Norman designed the golf course, which includes nine par-3 holes on flat greens and an additional challenge hole. You can learn to surf off the coast with professionals, and from December to March humpback whales pass by.

Location

The coast in front of the resort is undeveloped, with green cliffs above palm-fringed sand. Lagoons and river mouths stretch across the landscape. It takes about an hour to drive to the international airport in Puerto Vallarta, which is directly serviced from numerous cities in North America. The sun shines almost daily with average temperatures around 27 degrees, with the main season lasting from October to April and the height of summer being more humid. In the surrounding area are the port of San Blas with its colonial remains and the La Tovara National Park.
