Alila Mayakoba

The rhythm of the Riviera Maya reveals itself only in tranquility, and the Alila Mayakoba is entirely aligned with this. The resort is situated in the green area of Mayakoba on the Mexican Caribbean coast, where lagoons and mangroves reach to the paths, and the beach begins just a few steps away. The design follows this environment instead of overpowering it, referencing the traces of Maya culture. As a wellness retreat, the property emphasizes retreat, with open spaces that transition seamlessly to the outdoors. The Alila Moments embrace vibrant Maya traditions and lead to clear cenotes or the sunlit coast. In the evening, you can watch from your own balcony how the day ends over the water.

Rooms

Those who book one of the two villas ascend a staircase to sleep: downstairs a living and dining area, upstairs a king-size bed and a bathroom with rain shower and tub, totaling 174 square meters. In front of the Beach Front Villa lies the beach, the Beach Area Villa faces the tropical gardens, and both have their own terrace with plunge pool. You can stay more compactly in the rooms, signature studios, and suites, which range in size from 49 to 102 square meters and have balconies overlooking the lagoon or sea. In the Alila Beach Front Presidential Suite, three bedrooms are spread over 424 square meters, each with its own bathroom and balcony. Soft natural tones and fine textures keep the rooms discreet, floor-to-ceiling windows bring the garden in, and a butler is at your service in the suites and villas.

Cuisine

Six dining options are spread throughout the property, supplied by the in-house Chef's Garden and local markets. In Na Cocina Local, an open kitchen operates before your eyes, and the menu highlights the Yucatecan cuisine of southeastern Mexico, characterized by achiote and slow cooking methods. Casa Amate opens only in the evening and serves as a homage to Latin American craftsmanship as the sun sets behind the lagoon. At lunchtime, you can stop by the Alisio Beach Club, where Mediterranean flavors set the tone, and dinner by the sea is more relaxed. You can also have breakfast at Taquería Ninguno with Mexican street food, and in the Chef's Atelier at El Huerto, you can harvest from the herb garden before the chef cooks for you privately.

Activities

Much begins in the Spa Alila, which focuses its treatments on the cosmology of the Maya and the Tzolk'in calendar; a temazcal, a traditional sweat lodge, is part of the property. Those wanting to stay active will find a fitness center with Peloton bikes as well as courses for meditation and movement, some of which take place outdoors. In the water, you can snorkel over coral reefs or go sailing, and a golf course with sea views is also within reach. During the Alila Moments, historians, artisans, and traditional healers accompany you to ceremonies in cenotes or on paths through villages and ancient ruins.
