Golden Galapagos Grand Ocean Spray

The wildlife of the Galápagos can be observed from a few meters away, both on land and in the water, and a ship for only sixteen passengers gets particularly close to it. This ship is the Grand Ocean Spray, a twin-hulled catamaran of the latest fleet generation, whose design keeps the crossings between the islands calm. Floor-to-ceiling windows and private balconies open the interiors to the island backdrop, and the view of the water remains unobstructed both indoors and outdoors. The three decks are connected by a winding staircase, from the main deck with reception and lounges to the open sky deck. Solar panels cover part of the energy needs, and the shipping company has committed to the ship's CO2 neutrality.

Rooms

The eight Golden Suites are evenly distributed between the main and upper decks, each with its own balcony over the water. Amenities include a walk-in closet and a shower behind panoramic glass. The crew can set up the bed as a king size or as two single beds upon request. The suites on the main deck are adjacent to the lounge and dining area, while those on the upper deck are closer to the sun terrace. Additionally, there is a single suite on the upper deck with its own balcony, intended for families and groups with an odd number of people and not for solo travelers.

Cuisine

Under crystal chandeliers in the dining lounge of the main deck, breakfast and lunch are served as a buffet, while dinner is served as a menu in the open air on the sky deck. The kitchen works with ingredients from the islands and accommodates dietary preferences that you register before the trip. Unlike on other ships in the fleet, a beverage package with alcoholic drinks for adults is included in the price. This also includes the captain's welcome and farewell cocktail and a coffee and tea station that is available daily on deck.

Activities

The excursions are accompanied by a certified naturalist guide from the Galápagos National Park, whose selection of visitor sites changes with the length of your route. At Pitt Point on San Cristóbal, all three species of booby nest side by side, with blue-footed lay on the ground and red-footed in the trees. Off the west coast of Isabela, the cold Cromwell Current drives nutrients to the surface, so fish schools and their predators gather at Vicente Roca Point. Back on board, a spa with windows to the passing island world is located at the stern of the upper deck, which the other ships in the fleet do not have. One floor higher on the sky deck awaits a hot tub for eight people under the open sky, where the day winds down over the water.

Location

About a thousand kilometers off the coast of Ecuador, the Galápagos archipelago spreads across a vast open sea, a volcanic island realm at the equator. The Grand Ocean Spray travels routes of three to fourteen nights through the national park, whose visitor sites can almost only be reached from the water. The longer expeditions range from Fernandina in the far west to Española and San Cristóbal in the east. The shorter ones cover a tighter section closer to the inhabited islands.
